Meet Captain Mitch

Captain Mitch holds a USCG 25-Ton Masters Near Coastal License from New England Maritime and current CPR/First Aid/Wilderness Medicine Certification. He has been operating on the waters of Orleans, Chatham, and Monomoy for over 40 years. Mitch holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Geology from Northern Arizona University.

Mitch’s father worked on charter boats out of Chatham in the late 50’s and shared his passion for the water with both of his sons. Mitch’s summers as a child were spent in Chatham with family trips on Scrimshaw II, a 23’ Robalo center console. Those trips were instrumental in fostering Mitch’s passion for being on the water. Sequester is moored on the same mooring previously occupied by Scrimshaw II.

Mitch grew up sailing at Chatham Yacht Club, coached at Cape Cod Sea Camps, New Bedford Yacht Club, San Diego Yacht Club, and Coronado Yacht Club. Mitch was an accomplished racer in sunfish, daysailers, 420’s and later Etchell 22 and Catalina 22’s.

Mitch’s goal is to share the waters he grew up on with others so they can develop their own appreciation and family traditions.
